While the official narrative states that Wood had retired to her stateroom after an altercation between her husband and Walken and accidentally slipped while attempting to secure an inflatable dinghy knocking against the boat, Davern presents a starkly different version.

According to him, an intoxicated Wagner, consumed by jealousy over his wife's interactions with Walken, smashed a wine bottle in a fit of rage.

This prompted Walken to depart, leaving Wood and Wagner to continue their heated argument within their stateroom, escalating to a point where they were reportedly shouting and throwing objects at each other.

In a recent telephone conversation with the Times-Union, Natalie's sister, Lana Wood, shared her thoughts on the book.

Lana, a resident of Thousand Oaks, California, renowned for her roles as a young Natalie in “The Searchers” and a Bond girl in “Diamonds Are Forever,” reflected on the enduring fascination with her sister even three decades later.

When questioned about Wagner's response to the publication of the book, Lana expressed that there had been no communication from him to date, speculating that he may have chosen not to comment.
