Gary Busey, the renowned actor, is facing accusations of being involved in a hit-and-run incident in Malibu.
Reportedly, on August 30th, Busey, who is 79 years old, was driving a blue Volvo when he allegedly collided with another driver.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department disclosed this information to USA TODAY in a statement.
According to the news release, the driver claimed that Busey refused to stop after the collision and failed to provide proof of registration and financial responsibility.
The accident took place on the 23000 block of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, near the well-known Malibu Pier.
Currently, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station is conducting an investigation into the collision and the driver's allegation that Busey fled the scene.
USA TODAY has attempted to contact Busey's representatives for comment, but no response has been received thus far.
TMZ obtained a video capturing the aftermath of the alleged accident.
In the footage, the driver whose car was rear-ended by Busey can be seen chasing and confronting the actor known for his role in “Lethal Weapon.”
“Sir, you hit my car.
I need your information,” the driver asserts as they drive alongside Busey on the highway.
Later, the driver engages in conversation with Busey in a parking lot.
However, as the driver returns to their car, Busey mentions having “Progressive insurance” and departs without providing any further details.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the collision to contact the Traffic Investigations Office at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station by dialing 818-878-1808.
This is not the first vehicular incident involving Busey.
In 2015, the LA County Sheriff's Department reported that Busey had struck a woman with his car while reversing out of a shopping center parking lot in Malibu.
The woman received treatment at the scene and was subsequently released.
Additionally, last year, Busey faced charges of fourth-degree criminal s**ual contact, attempted criminal s**ual contact, and harassment at the Monster-Mania Convention in New Jersey.
