Emily Blunt recently appeared on “The Howard Stern Show” and shared her honest thoughts on having to feign chemistry with certain male co-stars she found difficult to connect with while filming.
Throughout her career, Blunt has starred alongside various A-list leading men such as Matt Damon in “The Adjustment Bureau,” Tom Cruise in “Edge of Tomorrow,” Dwayne Johnson in “Jungle Cruise,” Ryan Gosling in “The Fall Guy,” and Cillian Murphy in “Oppenheimer.”
When asked by Stern if she ever felt like throwing up after kissing some of her male co-stars on set, the acclaimed actor candidly admitted, “Absolutely.
Absolutely.” Blunt clarified that while it wasn't necessarily extreme dislike, there were instances where she did not enjoy the experience.
Although Blunt chose not to disclose specific names of co-stars she struggled to connect with, she acknowledged, “I have had chemistry with people who… I have not had a good time working with them.” She emphasized that establishing chemistry can be elusive, mentioning that even when a natural rapport exists off-screen, it might not always translate on camera.
With her extensive acting experience, Blunt has developed a strategy for fostering chemistry with her co-stars.
She shared, “I've got to find something I love about everybody.
I have to find something … Even if it's one thing.” Whether it's appreciating their sense of humor or their mannerisms, Blunt emphasized the importance of identifying positive qualities in her fellow actors to enhance their working relationship.
Earlier this year, Blunt received an Oscar nomination for her supporting role in Christopher Nolan's “Oppenheimer,” which also won the prestigious Academy Award for best picture.
Currently, audiences can catch her in the action romance film “The Fall Guy” from Universal Pictures, where she stars alongside Ryan Gosling.
