Going back to the incident that landed Al Pacino behind bars, it was in 1961 when the actor was arrested on charges of attempted robbery.

This lesser-known event came to light through an Instagram post.

At that time, Pacino had yet to make his debut in the movie industry.

According to reports, the incident occurred on the night of January 7th, 1961, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

A suspicious vehicle caught the attention of the police, as it repeatedly circled the block.

Upon pulling over the car, law enforcement discovered three individuals wearing black masks and gloves.

Subsequently, a loaded 38-caliber pistol was found during a search.

The three men, including Al Pacino, were charged with carrying a concealed weapon and taken to the police station.

The other two individuals were identified as Vincent J. Calcagni and Bruce Cohen.

During their arrest, the bail amount for all three men was set at $2,000.

However, none of them could afford to pay, resulting in their incarceration.

Al Pacino spent a total of three days in jail.

Interestingly, the arresting officer recalled Al Pacino being “very helpful” during the interview process.

The officer also revealed that Pacino and the other two men were on their way to an acting job, with the concealed gun serving as a prop for an audition.

Eventually, the charges against them were dropped.

Al Pacino's breakthrough came in 1972 with his role in The Godfather, which propelled him into a career spanning nearly five decades.
