In a memoir released posthumously by Sid Luft, the former husband of Judy Garland, shocking revelations have surfaced regarding alleged s–ual harassment faced by the renowned actress from the actors playing the Munchkins in the iconic film “The Wizard of Oz.”
During his marriage to Garland spanning from 1952 to 1965, Luft delves into the distressing accounts of the purported mistreatment in his book titled “Judy and I: My Life with Judy Garland.”
Detailing the troubling incidents, he discloses, “They would make Judy's life miserable on set by putting their hands under her dress…
The men were 40 or more years old.”
He further adds, “They thought they could get away with anything because they were so small.”
At the tender age of 16, Garland was subjected to such distress during the filming of the movie.
Instances of inappropriate behavior by the actors have been previously reported, adding weight to the claims made by Luft in his memoir.
According to People magazine, in a 1967 interview with Jack Paar, Judy Garland herself remarked, “They were little drunks…
They got smashed every night, and they picked them up in butterfly nets.”
Moreover, Luft, who was Garland's third spouse, reveals in his book that Garland, while still married to her second husband, conceived a child with Luft and subsequently underwent an abortion.
At that time, Luft also served as her manager.
