Amanda Bynes, aged 37 and a former Nickelodeon star, has been taken into police custody once more due to ongoing mental health difficulties.
Reports indicate that the Los Angeles Police Department apprehended her and transported her for a mental health evaluation on Saturday morning, as disclosed by TMZ.
Authorities were alerted to a distressed female individual, prompting their arrival at the scene where they intervened in the matter.
While TMZ has identified the person as Bynes, Page Six has not independently verified this information and has reached out to both the LAPD and the actress' legal representative for input.
Following her detention, a specialized medical team at the police station will assess Bynes to ascertain if further treatment is necessary.
Witnesses revealed to TMZ that the “All That” actress appeared composed during her interaction with law enforcement but seemed despondent as they handled the situation.
This incident marks the second occasion in recent times that Bynes' mental health challenges have surfaced prominently.
In March, she was placed under psychiatric care after being discovered wandering the streets of LA unclothed.
An eyewitness recounted to TMZ that Bynes, who had previously received a bipolar disorder diagnosis, hailed a vehicle while unclothed, informing the driver that she was recovering from a psychiatric episode.
Subsequently, she called emergency services on herself and was escorted to a nearby police station, where a mental health specialist advised her placement on a 5150 hold.
Bynes' former fiancé, Paul Michael, disclosed exclusively to Page Six that she had ceased taking her prescribed medications, further remarking on her unpredictable behavior.
Although a 5150 hold typically lasts for 72 hours, Bynes' confinement reportedly exceeded this duration.
Following over three weeks in custody, she was discharged from the mental health facility.
While plans were in place for outpatient treatment in April, Bynes opted to remain at home to preserve her independence.
Despite engaging in regular activities like getting a manicure, sources close to her disclosed to TMZ that she resided alone without a robust support network.
Nevertheless, insiders noted that Bynes maintained cordial relations with her family, predominantly interacting with her siblings and parents sporadically.
Reports indicated her compliance with outpatient appointments, therapy sessions, and medication regimens.
The former “Amanda Show” star, who has also struggled with substance abuse, saw the termination of an eight-year conservatorship in March 2022.
