During their final breakup, Angelica confessed to resorting to physical violence by punching Jack multiple times.
However, what really caught the attention of many was Angelica's past association with Roman Polanski.
It turns out that Angelica was present at Jack Nicholson's residence on the night when Roman drugged and s**ually assaulted 13-year-old Samantha Geimer.
According to Samantha's own recollections in her memoirs, Roman had taken numerous photographs of her, one of which even made it to the cover of her book.
Samantha also disclosed that Roman had a casual chat with Angelica following the disturbing incident.
Angelica has now confirmed this interaction in her memoir, stating that she did not think much of it at the time as she believed Samantha looked older than her actual age.
Interestingly, more revelations have emerged from an excerpt published in the Sunday Times via The Independent.
Angelica Huston nonchalantly described the moment she stumbled upon director Roman Polanski with a 13-year-old girl at Jack Nicholson's residence.
This Oscar-winning actress shared details about the evening when she returned to Nicholson's home, her then beau, only to discover Polanski's belongings and cameras in the kitchen.
In her memoir segment featured in the Sunday Times Magazine, Angelica narrated, “A short while later, Roman and a girl appeared, he introduced me to her, mentioning they had been taking pictures.
She was dressed in platform heels, looking quite tall.
Roman retrieved his items, and they departed together.
I didn't dwell on it.”
Angelica, aged 63, revealed that she only reconsidered the encounter when plainclothes officers raided her home the following day.
She recalled, “They accompanied me upstairs, where I showed them some marijuana from a drawer.
Subsequently, they searched my bag and uncovered cocaine.
That served as incriminating evidence.
Both Roman and I were apprehended and driven away in separate police vehicles.
We were under arrest.”
Furthermore, she added, “Afterward, there was a flurry of news articles, images, consequences.
Roman faced charges of assaulting a 13-year-old girl at Jack's place.”
Despite these legal troubles, the Oscar winner Polanski has continued his filmmaking career and collaborations with major Hollywood figures, avoiding American territory since his escape in 1978 due to the pending US warrant.
It is bewildering that Angelica did not question Samantha's presence more critically.
Just because Samantha wore towering heels and seemed tall made it acceptable?
The entire narrative still sends shivers down my spine.
In a probation report related to the case years ago, Angelica labeled Samantha as “sullen” and proceeded to comment, “She seemed like one of those girls who could be anywhere between — possibly reaching up to 25 years old.
She did not resemble a frightened 13-year-old.
She struck me as quite tall and rather mature for her age.
I would not have guessed she was 13.”
Almost paradoxically, Angelica expressed her perspective on Polanski by saying, “I don't perceive him as evil.
He strikes me as a troubled individual.”
With these recent excerpts from her memoir, Angelica is not portraying herself in a positive light.
By delving into a distressing and scandalous episode involving Polanski's victim, she appears to be both exploiting and defending him.
