Anne Hathaway recently shed light on the rationale behind the intimate scenes in The Idea of You, emphasizing the desire to authentically capture the essence of pleasure within the storyline.

In the upcoming Prime Video film, Hathaway portrays Solène Marchand, a single mother at 40 who embarks on a romantic journey with Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), a 24-year-old frontman of a renowned boy band.

Prior to the movie's premiere on May 2, Hathaway engaged in a discussion with Variety alongside director Michael Showalter, where they explored the creative process involved in portraying the intimate moments between Solène and Hayes.

Reflecting on this, Hathaway noted, “Author Robinne Lee vividly describes intimate encounters with remarkable fervor.

In their initial physical intimacy, Hayes brings Solène to climax while she remains fully clothed.”

This depiction became the guiding principle for showcasing cinematic intimacy in a manner that underscores her pleasure while underscoring the significance of deriving pleasure from giving joy to another person.

Apart from her acting role, Hathaway also holds an executive producer credit for this project.

She previously shared insights on the chemistry tests conducted, revealing, “We requested each actor to select a song that resonated with their character's preferences.”

The actors would play their chosen songs to prompt my character to dance, leading to spontaneous improvisation sessions.

During one such occasion, Galitzine chose a track from Alabama Shakes.
