Barbra Streisand Opens Up About Marlon Brando’s Advances Before Their Lifelong Friendship

Barbra Streisand is set to release her memoir, My Name is Barbra, in which she shares intriguing insights into her friendship with Marlon Brando.

According to Vanity Fair, the iconic entertainer, aged 81, discloses that Brando made a s–ual advance towards her during a party they both attended back in 1966.

Reportedly, the late actor expressed his desire by saying, “I'd like to f— you,” to which Streisand declined.

Surprisingly, despite this awkward encounter, the two developed a lasting bond and regularly conversed over the phone.

Streisand also recalls that Brando's wife at the time, Tarita Teriipaia, was in a nearby room when he propositioned her.

In an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, Streisand reminisces about Brando critiquing her performance in the 1968 film Funny Girl, noting that he complimented her while humorously pointing out her peculiar running style.

Brando, who passed away in 2004, had been married thrice, first to Anna Kashfi, then to Movita Castaneda, and finally to Teriipaia.

During a 2012 interview with CNN's Piers Morgan, Streisand shared another incident where she rejected Brando's invitation to spend the night in a desert ghost town to witness wildflowers, opting to accompany him only for the day due to her upbringing as a “nice Jewish girl.”

In addition to her encounters with Brando, Streisand will delve into her initial meeting with her husband of 25 years, James Brolin, in her memoir.

Vanity Fair mentions that one reason she fell for him was his impressive dental hygiene.

Recalling a humorous exchange with Brolin on The Tonight Show in 2021, Streisand humorously remarked about his shaved head for a role, asking, “Who f—ed up your hair?”

Streisand also shared a heartwarming memory of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis offering to edit her memoir in 1984, showcasing the support she received from the former First Lady.

Reflecting on her writing journey, Streisand mentioned how the pandemic provided her with the time to complete her book, which had been a work in progress due to her busy schedule.

‘My Name Is Barbra,' the highly anticipated memoir by the legendary artist, is scheduled for release on Nov. 7, offering fans an intimate look into Streisand's illustrious six-decade-long career.

Penguin Random House's Viking stated that Streisand's personal account will be a treasured addition to the extensive collection of works about her, allowing readers to experience her story firsthand.
