Bing Crosby’s Daughter Opens Up About Brother’s Controversial Book Exposing Star’s Abuse

Bing Crosby, the iconic singer known for his hit song “White Christmas,” faced a significant blow to his reputation when his eldest son, Gary, published a memoir in 1983.

Titled “Going My Own Way,” the book detailed the alleged physical and mental abuse inflicted upon Gary by his famous father.

Mary Crosby, Bing Crosby's daughter, recently spoke with Express.co.uk and expressed her disagreement with her half-brother's claims.

As an actor and singer himself, Gary's book not only discussed his personal struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction but also accused Bing of being the source of his troubles.

He claimed that his father had subjected him to both physical and mental abuse, with his mother, Dixie Lee, being portrayed as an alcoholic.

However, Mary Crosby revealed that Gary had confessed to her that publishers had encouraged him to exaggerate his allegations in order to boost book sales.

She stated that Gary wrote the book solely for monetary gain.

Recounting a conversation she had with him after the book's release, Mary shared, “And Gary said to me that the publishers had told him ‘the worse it was, the more books would sell' and he was very clear about why he did it and what he did.”

Furthermore, Mary disclosed that Gary later apologized profusely to the family.

However, by that time, the damage to Bing Crosby's reputation had already been done.
