The results of Bob Saget’s autopsy have been made public.
According to a report from the Orange County Medical Examiner, it is believed that Saget had suffered a fatal fall, resulting in severe injuries to his head.
The examination revealed fractures to the back of his head and around his eyes at the time of his passing.
The detailed report outlined various injuries Saget sustained, including posterior scalp abrasions, subgaleal hemorrhage, upper and lower eyelid discoloration, subdural hematoma, and subarachnoid hemorrhage.
Additionally, it was disclosed that Saget had tested positive for COVID-19 during the autopsy.
While there were no illicit substances found in Saget’s system, the report indicated the presence of clonazepam, a prescription drug used to manage seizures, panic disorder, and anxiety.
Moreover, the autopsy revealed that Saget had cardiomegaly, coronary artery atherosclerosis, and aortic atherosclerosis.
Dr. Roshini Raj, an Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Langone Health, explained that the trauma Saget experienced led to skull fractures, brain bruising, and bleeding around the brain, ultimately causing fatal consequences.
The injuries were likely the result of an accidental backward fall, as determined by the coroner.
Discussing the significance of the eye fracture, Raj elaborated on how the impact of the fall could have caused multiple skull fractures, leading to brain compression and damage.
The force of the blow on the head could have directly affected the brain’s well-being.
Saget’s family recently confirmed that his death was due to head trauma resulting from an accidental incident.
They expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans following his passing and emphasized the importance of cherishing the memories and teachings Saget imparted during his life.
Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany concluded that Saget’s demise was a consequence of blunt head trauma.
The toxicology analysis did not reveal any presence of drugs or toxins, supporting the assessment of an accidental death resulting from unwitnessed fall-related injuries.
Despite the closure of the case by authorities, investigations into Saget’s death by the Orange County Sherriff’s Department remain ongoing.
