A historical letter from the 1960s has surfaced, allegedly confirming an affair between Marilyn Monroe and Robert F. Kennedy, known as Bobby Kennedy.
Speculations regarding Monroe's ties to the Kennedy brothers have long been a subject of fascination and discussion, with conflicting reports linking her romantically to both Bobby and his elder brother, John F. Kennedy.
The Daily Mail in 2016 asserted that a letter authored by Jean Kennedy Smith, the younger sister of Bobby and John, was discovered, indicating Monroe's involvement with at least one of the siblings.
The letter attributed to Jean encouraged Monroe to accompany Bobby on his return to the East Coast, insinuating a romantic entanglement between them.
Martin Nolan, the executive director of Julien's Auctions, the entity that handled the auction of Monroe's personal effects in 2016, stated, “There's always speculation about her relationship with the Kennedys and this speaks to the fact that there was in fact a relationship between Robert Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe.”
Monroe was predominantly associated with Bobby's older brother during John F. Kennedy's presidency.
However, rumors surfaced following Monroe's iconic performance at JFK's 40th birthday celebration in 1962, where she serenaded him with “Happy Birthday,” suggesting a potential liaison with the other Kennedy sibling.
Allegedly, Lou Harris, who served as a pollster during JFK's political campaigns, disclosed witnessing Monroe's advances towards Bobby in the presence of his wife, Ethel, denoting an uncomfortable encounter.
James Spada, a biographer of Monroe, supported claims of an affair between Bobby and Monroe commencing in the spring of 1962, subsequent to her involvement with the then-president.
Reports emerged of a contentious exchange captured on a covert recording from Monroe's residence involving Monroe, Bobby, and actor Peter Lawford on the night of Monroe's demise, which is conjectured to be a suicide.
Furthermore, speculations suggest Monroe divulged her aspirations to wed Bobby prior to her tragic death.
Anthony Summers, another biographer of Monroe, recounted an alleged conversation with Monroe's former live-in housekeeper, Eunice Murray, who expressed exasperation over concealing the affair, hinting at Bobby's presence on a particular date.
Murray's words implied intimate involvement between Bobby Kennedy and Monroe.
