In a shocking revelation, actress Eva Green, known for her role in Casino Royale, has joined the growing list of women accusing Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of s**ual harassment.
Green shared her experience with Weinstein, stating that she felt “shocked and disgusted” after an encounter in which she had to physically push him away.
Green's mother, Marlene Jobert, also spoke out about her daughter's experience, describing Weinstein as a “horrible man” who used his power to exploit aspiring actresses in exchange for career advancement.
Jobert made these comments during an interview with Europe 1 radio.
Following her mother's statements, Green released a statement to Variety, recounting her own encounter with Weinstein.
She explained that she met him for a business meeting in Paris, during which he behaved inappropriately.
Green was forced to defend herself by pushing him away, managing to escape any further harm.
However, she expressed her shock and disgust over the incident.
The actress revealed that she chose to remain silent about the incident in order to protect her privacy.
However, witnessing other women come forward with their stories encouraged her to speak out against Weinstein.
Green praised the bravery of these women and condemned the exploitation of power, stressing the need for such behavior to be eradicated.
The scandal surrounding Weinstein erupted when The New York Times published an exposé last week.
Since then, approximately 30 women, including well-known figures such as Kate Beckinsale, Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie, have accused Weinstein of s**ual harassment or assault.
The New Yorker has also published allegations of rape from three women.
Weinstein has vehemently denied all allegations of non-consensual s** and illegal s**ual harassment.
He was subsequently fired by The Weinstein Company, the studio he co-founded with his brother, and his wife has left him.
It is reported that he has entered rehab for treatment.
Colin Firth, who won an Oscar for his role in The King's Speech, also spoke out about the scandal, revealing that actress Sophie Dix had informed him of an incident involving Weinstein 25 years ago.
Firth expressed regret for not taking action at the time and acknowledged that this conversation now haunts him in light of recent revelations.
Dix, who starred alongside Firth in the film Hour Of The Pig, recently went public with her own allegations against Weinstein.
In response to the mounting accusations, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hold an emergency meeting to discuss potentially expelling Weinstein from the organization.
The Producers' Guild of America is also convening to address the scandal and consider disciplinary actions, including the revocation of Weinstein's membership.
