In an exclusive conversation with a witness who was driving directly behind Brandy at the time of the tragic accident, TMZ has learned that the singer repeatedly admitted fault at the scene.
According to the witness, Brandy became upset and continuously blamed herself, acknowledging that she hit the lady involved.
The witness stated that Brandy walked across lanes of speeding cars, causing other drivers to honk at her in an attempt to get her out of harm’s way.
It was clear that she was disoriented and highly distressed.
The witness also mentioned that he tried to console the distraught singer and even offered legal advice, advising her not to admit guilt.
He reassured her that it was an accident.
Furthermore, the witness claims that he approached the woman in the Toyota to check on her well-being but was unable to find a pulse.
TMZ has obtained information revealing that R&B sensation Brandy was involved in a fatal accident last month, and it appears that she is responsible.
The incident occurred on December 30, 2006, at 10:30 AM on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles.
According to law enforcement sources, Brandy was driving her 2007 Land Rover at a speed of 65 mph and failed to notice that the cars ahead of her had significantly slowed down.
As a result, Brandy’s vehicle collided with a 2005 Toyota, which then struck a 1989 Toyota.
Subsequently, the 2005 Toyota slid sideways and hit the center divider, ultimately being hit by a 1988 Acura.
In a statement issued to TMZ by Brandy’s publicist, Courtney Barnes, the singer confirmed her involvement in the fatal crash.
Brandy expressed her condolences to the deceased’s family and requested privacy for all parties involved.
The driver of the 2005 Toyota, Awatef Aboudihaj, was critically injured and taken to Holy Cross Hospital.
Unfortunately, she passed away the following day.
Aboudihaj, a 38-year-old married mother, resided in Los Angeles.
Fortunately, Brandy sustained no injuries in the accident, while the driver of the Acura suffered moderate injuries.
Brandy was not arrested, and there is no evidence suggesting the involvement of drugs or alcohol.
The police are conducting a mechanical investigation of the vehicles involved to determine if any malfunctions contributed to the accident.
