Charlie Sheen has resolved a legal dispute from 2017 with a former girlfriend who accused him of jeopardizing her health by exposing her to HIV.
According to TMZ, an unnamed woman from California, referred to as Jane Doe in the lawsuit, has received a settlement of $120,000 from the actor.
The legal action was initiated in 2017, with court records identifying Sheen only as a “confidential male defendant.”
The plaintiff alleged that after meeting Sheen, they engaged in multiple s–ual encounters, including unprotected intercourse.
In her complaint, the woman asserted that Sheen advised her to take specific pills to prevent the transmission of HIV.
However, he allegedly also discouraged her from trusting the medical community's advice and expressed derogatory remarks about HIV-related treatments.
Sheen disclosed his HIV positive status during an interview on The TODAY Show in 2015, where he shared his journey towards acceptance.
Describing the revelation as a liberating moment, Sheen expressed hope that his openness would encourage others to confront their own health challenges.
He disclosed that he learned about his diagnosis in 2011.
Subsequent to his TV appearance, several women who had been romantically involved with Sheen came forward, claiming that he failed to disclose his HIV status before engaging in intimate relationships.
Among them was his former fiancée, Scottine Ross, who filed a lawsuit against him in 2015.
Reports emerged in the subsequent year indicating that Sheen had not informed 25 of his s–ual partners about his HIV status, contradicting his earlier assertions that he would never conceal such critical information.
