Charlie Sheen, the controversial actor known for his role in “Two and a Half Men,” has reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by an ex-partner who accused him of knowingly exposing her to HIV.
The plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe, alleged that she had engaged in a s**ual relationship with Sheen starting in September 2015.
According to legal documents, Sheen initially used protection but later transitioned into having unprotected s** with Doe.
Prior to their encounter, Doe claims that she specifically asked Sheen about any s**ually transmitted diseases, to which he reassured her that he was “fine.”
However, after the act, Sheen disclosed that he was HIV positive, a status he had known since 2011, and allegedly provided Doe with pills to prevent transmission of the virus.
Doe sought further medical care after the incident and confronted Sheen about his actions.
In their argument, Sheen defended himself, describing his disclosure of his HIV status as noble but asserting that it was none of Doe's business before they engaged in unprotected s**.
He also dismissed the necessity of anti-viral medication, referring to them as “convenient rumors of the medical community.”
This incident occurred just weeks before Sheen publicly revealed his HIV status during an interview with Matt Lauer on the “Today” show in November 2015.
It is worth noting that this is not the first lawsuit filed against Sheen regarding allegations of knowingly exposing s**ual partners to HIV.
In December 2015, his ex-fiancée, Scottine Ross, filed a suit accusing him of assault and battery during their relationship.
The lawsuit detailed several instances of alleged mistreatment by Sheen and highlighted his failure to disclose his HIV status to Ross, who was 24 years old at the time.
In 2016, it was revealed that Sheen had knowingly exposed at least 25 s**ual partners to HIV without informing them of his condition.
Sheen attempted to defend his actions by claiming that he had not engaged in unprotected s** during those encounters.
As part of the settlement, Doe has been awarded $120,000.
The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
This settlement brings an end to another chapter in Charlie Sheen's controversial personal life, which has been marked by legal disputes and public scrutiny surrounding his HIV status and relationships.
