Charlize Theron’s Daughter ‘Embarrassed’ by Mom’s Shirtless Dior Billboard

Being on a billboard is one thing, but seeing your mom sans shirt plastered up there?

Charlize Theron recently shared a humorous take on her daughters' reactions to her professional life and a particularly sultry display on a Dior advertisement.

The actress revealed that her children, Jackson, aged 10, and August, aged 7, have differing views on her career endeavors.

Charlize disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter, “In their minds, they're like, ‘We know you work, but we're not 100 percent sure what you do.' My younger one goes, ‘Oh my God, Mom, it feels like you can't hold a job,'” she chuckled.

“And my older one, she's a pre-teen now, so there are moments like when we're walking through an airport [and she sees me on a Dior billboard], and she's just like, ‘Oh my God, you're on a wall with no shirt, Mom.

This is so embarrassing.

Put a shirt on!' And I'm like, ‘That will pay for your college!'”

Despite her skyrocketing fame and numerous accolades, Theron emphasized her desire to impress her daughters above all else.

She remained grounded during an interview where she was honored with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at THR's Women in Entertainment Event.

Charlize expressed, “I could be mistaken, but I doubt anyone I've worked with would say, ‘Oh, I don't know her.' I always make it abundantly clear that I don't need to be an enigma, even if it's just a pitch at a streaming service for a TV show.

I think that's part of the broadness, the ability to swear and be self-deprecating—because I don't want to spend all this time with you thinking I'm just a movie star.”

Theron also playfully recounted an incident involving her youngest daughter's fashion choices, which she humorously deemed as ‘payback' for her risqué Dior billboard.

“The other day, I told my little girl, who's quite adventurous, that we needed to head to Target in half an hour, so she should be prepared.

She then appeared downstairs in a crop top.

And I was like, ‘No, no, no, no, no.

Can you please put on a full shirt?'” Charlize reminisced.

“She got into the car, feeling upset.

And I told her, ‘Stop.

Don't.' At the time, she was only 6, and she remarked, ‘Why is how I express myself so upsetting to you?' And she was right.

Sometimes, you have to acknowledge a 6-year-old's perspective.

But trust me, the outfit was something else!

It involved fringe.”

In a candid interview with Harper's Bazaar in October 2022, Theron delved deeper into her interactions with her daughters, revealing how they enjoy teasing her about her fixation on the Real Housewives franchise.

Charlize affectionately shared, “I often tell my kids, ‘Just diversify a bit,' and my little one would ask, ‘Are you watching the Housewives again?'” she chuckled.

“And I reply, ‘Yes, I am… We'll watch a little [Federico] Fellini later.'”
