Charlize Theron’s Daughter Resists Hugs as She Enters Middle School

Charlize Theron, the renowned 48-year-old actress, recently opened up about her struggles in adapting to her daughter's transition into middle school.

Theron shared with the audience, “My oldest just went to middle school and it was literally, it was so sad.

I was like, ‘Where's my baby?'”

However, she soon realized that her daughter was not open to displays of affection.

“And she was like, ‘Mom, please don't look, mom, don't hug me,'” Theron continued.

“I was like, ‘Can I hug you?'

She's like, ‘No, no.'

Oh my god.

It's like a whole different game.”

The actress also reflected on the changes that parenthood brings and the rapid pace at which children grow.

She explained, “There's something about having kids that you're so aware of the changes that come and they happen really fast and it's just a tremendous jump from one year to the other.

So it's always exciting to see where they're going to go in the next year.”

In a 2018 interview with PEOPLE, Theron discussed her deep-rooted desire to adopt, inspired by her upbringing in South Africa and her exposure to orphanages and children in need within her community.

She emphasized that adoption was always her first choice for starting a family, even when she was in relationships.

Theron stated, “Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day.

This was definitely not a second option for me.

It was always my first.”

Theron, who is an only child, also revealed her aspiration to have more than one child, despite the challenges of sibling rivalry.

She shared a heartwarming moment from the past, saying, “We went through this really beautiful stage a year ago where the baby was hugging her sibling and there was all this love and affection.
