Courtney Love continues to criticize Brad Pitt, claiming that she was fired from the movie “Fight Club” because she refused to let Pitt make a film about her late husband, Kurt Cobain.
In a recent interview on Marc Maron's “WTF” podcast, Love revealed that she had been cast as Marla Singer in the 1999 classic but was later removed from the role after Pitt and director Gus Van Sant approached her about doing a movie about Cobain.
Love stated, “I wouldn't let Brad play Kurt.
I went nuclear.
If you don't get me, you kind of don't get Kurt, and I don't feel like you do, Brad.”
However, a source from Variety claimed that Love had auditioned but was not actually fired because she did not secure the role.
The source said, “You cannot be fired for a job you didn't get.”
Taking to Instagram on Friday, Love further addressed the situation, stating that Pitt had pushed her too far.
She expressed her dissatisfaction with the way he does business and wields his power.
She added, “I lost my s–t on them and by 7 p.m., I was fired.”
Love also responded to a denial published in Variety, insisting that every word she had said was factual.
She revealed that Pitt continued to pursue her about Kurt even after the “Fight Club” incident.
According to Love, they had a Zoom meeting in 2020 regarding Pitt producing a Cobain film through his Plan B Productions.
She claims to have declined again, but her concerns were ignored.
Love explained that she decided to share her story on Maron's podcast because she believed that Pitt would not stop pursuing Kurt unless she made it public.
She clarified that she does not want to start a fight with Pitt but hopes that he will do better.
She stated, “I'm not into assault.
C'mon brother Pitt.
I wish you well, truly.”
Love also acknowledged that she admired Pitt as an actor but did not appreciate him as a biopic producer.
She concluded by saying, “If he's mad at me, that's his problem.”
Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain were married from 1992 until Cobain's death in 1994.
