Courtney Love, known for her singing career and acting roles, including in films like “Man on the Moon,” has had a troubled relationship with Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.
Love recently revealed her deep-seated animosity towards Pitt, claiming that he had fired her from a movie she wanted to be a part of.
She did not hold back as she publicly expressed her history with Pitt.
The reason behind Courtney Love's explosive reaction towards Brad Pitt stems from her desire to play Marla Singer in David Fincher's 1999 film “Fight Club.”
Love claimed that Fincher had initially cast her for the role alongside Pitt and Edward Norton.
However, things took a turn when Pitt approached Love with a request.
Brad Pitt wanted to portray Love's late husband, Kurt Cobain, in a project being developed by Gus Van Sant.
Love vehemently rejected Pitt's proposal, leading to a heated confrontation.
She recalled their conversation, stating, “I don't do Faust.
Who the f*ck do you think you are?”
Love confronted Pitt about his understanding of her late husband and expressed her doubts about his commitment to the project.
There has been no response from Brad Pitt regarding Love's claims at this time.
Interestingly, it was Edward Norton who broke the news to Courtney Love that she did not receive the role.
Norton, who was romantically involved with Love at the time, tearfully informed her that he didn't have the power to change the decision.
However, a source close to the film clarified that Love had only auditioned for the role and was never officially offered it.
The source emphasized that actors do not have the authority to hire or fire each other; that responsibility falls on the director.
In response to the situation, Love took to Instagram to express her dissatisfaction with Brad Pitt's approach to business and power dynamics.
She clarified that her main concern was not losing the role of Marla Singer but rather how Pitt conducted himself.
Love shared her experience of being blackmailed over her role and ultimately being fired from “Fight Club.”
She emphasized that her account was factual and not a grudge against Helena Bonham Carter, Edward Norton, David Fincher, or Art Linson.
Love explained that she decided to share her story publicly because she believed Pitt would continue pursuing projects related to Kurt Cobain unless she spoke out.
Despite the project eventually going to Michael Pitt under Gus Van Sant's direction, Love made it clear that “Last Days” was not the film they initially discussed.
Courtney Love's revelation sheds light on the complexities of the entertainment industry and the power dynamics at play.
Her candid account serves as a reminder that decisions regarding casting are in the hands of directors, not actors.
