Arnold Schwarzenegger recently revealed that actor Danny DeVito tricked him into getting high while filming the 1994 comedy film “Junior,” directed by Ivan Reitman.
Although Schwarzenegger is widely known for his action movie roles, he has also ventured into other genres throughout his career.
While Schwarzenegger had already established himself as an international action star, he started to explore different roles in the '90s, including comedic ones.
This interest was likely influenced by the success of the 1988 film “Twins,” in which he starred alongside DeVito as fraternal twin brothers.
The movie was such a hit that fans have been eagerly awaiting a potential sequel starring Schwarzenegger, DeVito, and Tracy Morgan.
In an attempt to recreate their previous success, DeVito and Schwarzenegger teamed up again in 1994 for “Junior.”
The film tells the story of a scientist (Schwarzenegger) who agrees to undergo an experimental treatment that results in him becoming pregnant.
Although “Junior” didn't achieve the same level of success as “Twins,” Schwarzenegger recently shared a memorable anecdote from the set on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
During a lunch break, DeVito invited Schwarzenegger to his trailer, promising to cook delicious Italian food.
After enjoying the meal, DeVito surprised Schwarzenegger with a gift—a cigar.
Feeling guilty about always receiving cigars from Schwarzenegger, DeVito wanted to return the favor.
Little did Schwarzenegger know, DeVito had spiked the cigar with marijuana.
Unaware of the prank, Schwarzenegger lit up the cigar and continued filming.
However, when it was time for his close-up scene, he suddenly forgot his lines.
Confused and unable to remember the dialogue, Schwarzenegger had to consult the script supervisor to regain his bearings.
It wasn't until later that he discovered DeVito's mischievous act.
In a humorous twist, Schwarzenegger attempted to get back at DeVito by offering him a cigar containing marijuana on the set of their rumored “Twins” sequel, titled “Triplets.”
However, DeVito immediately detected the presence of weed in the cigar, foiling Schwarzenegger's prank.
The playful dynamic between Schwarzenegger and DeVito is evident in their on-screen chemistry.
As the “Twins” sequel progresses towards becoming a reality, the camaraderie between the two actors will undoubtedly contribute to the film's success.
Although it has been some time since they last worked together, their ability to have fun and enjoy each other's company bodes well for the future project.
