France’s renowned actor, Gerard Depardieu, faced a turbulent situation on a recent flight from Paris to Dublin.
The 62-year-old star was removed from the plane after an incident involving him urinating in front of other passengers when he was denied access to the restroom by the cabin crew.
As the flight was delayed and the aircraft taxied on the runway, Depardieu found himself in a predicament.
Despite his urgent pleas to be allowed to use the bathroom, the cabin crew informed him that he would have to wait until the plane was airborne, as the toilets were currently inaccessible.
One passenger, identified as Daniele, recounted the scene where Depardieu resorted to unzipping his pants and relieving himself on the carpet.
Although some witnesses speculated that alcohol might have played a role in his behavior, close friends of the actor refuted these claims, asserting that he was not intoxicated and was attempting to discreetly use a bottle.
In an attempt to assist Depardieu, fellow actor Edouard Baer provided him with an empty bottle to address his urgent need.
However, a mishap occurred, resulting in some spillage on the floor, much to the embarrassment of the actor.
Following the incident, the flight crew decided to return to the terminal, where Depardieu and his companions disembarked along with their luggage.
Despite the commotion and the delay caused by the cleanup operation, no formal charges were filed against the actor.
Depardieu’s friends defended his actions, citing the inflexible attitude of the stewardess and the prolonged delay as contributing factors to the unusual incident.
They emphasized that the actor was apologetic and offered to clean up the mess himself.
Known for his illustrious acting career spanning decades and numerous films, Depardieu has garnered international acclaim, particularly for his performance in “Green Card,” which earned him a Golden Globe award.
His recent behavior has raised concerns about his struggles with alcohol, despite his assertions of attempting to abstain from drinking.
The actor’s upcoming project, “Asterix and Obelix: God Save Britannia,” had brought him to Ireland for filming, highlighting his enduring commitment to his craft.
While Depardieu’s reputation as a bon vivant precedes him, his public persona has been marred by various incidents, including altercations and controversial statements.
Air France acknowledged the incident involving Depardieu, confirming that he indeed urinated on the aircraft.
Despite the embarrassing episode, the actor managed to catch a later flight to Dublin, indicating a swift resolution to the unusual circumstances surrounding his travel mishap.
