James Franco Sparks Controversy with Alleged Attempt to Pick Up Teenage Girl
James Franco, the renowned 35-year-old actor, found himself at the center of attention on Thursday after reports emerged claiming that he had tried to pick up a 17-year-old girl.
The news instantly caught the public's attention, with many expressing their discomfort and labeling the situation as “creepy.”
While it is essential to approach this story with caution, Gawker provided evidence in the form of screenshots (which have since been taken down) of an alleged conversation between Lucy Clode and a man claiming to be Franco, posted on imgur.
According to reports, Clode was visiting New York City for an early celebration of her 18th birthday when she encountered Franco outside his Broadway production of “Of Mice and Men.”
In an Instagram video taken by Clode, Franco can be heard saying, “You gotta tag me,” although the clip has since been deleted.
It seems that Clode did indeed tag Franco, as the exchange continued online and through text messages, potentially arranging a meeting at a hotel.
The man in question asks, “You're single?…
Should I rent a room?”
In response, Clode requests confirmation of his identity as James Franco.
Although two photos are shared during the conversation, making it highly likely that the man is indeed Franco, there is no evidence to suggest that they ever met up in person.
Franco indirectly addressed the viral story on Thursday, taking to Twitter to share his thoughts.
However, before he could respond, numerous people had already branded him as “creepy” on the social media platform.
In his tweet, Franco vehemently denies the allegations, writing, “I'M NOT!
I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME.
Thank you.”
He also included a link to the reported screenshots for further examination.
Interestingly, Franco's latest movie, “Palo Alto,” features him playing
