The Intriguing Truth Behind the Allegations
Netflix's latest biographical film, ‘Blonde,' delves into the captivating life of Marilyn Monroe.
The movie takes us through Monroe's relationships, marriages, and the obstacles she faced while trying to establish her career in Hollywood.
One aspect of the film focuses on Monroe's alleged affair with “the President” shortly before her mysterious death, which has sparked much curiosity.
Speculations and rumors surrounding Marilyn Monroe's relationship with then-President John F. Kennedy have circulated for years.
The media and press have delved deep into these speculations in an attempt to uncover the truth.
Some connect these rumors to Monroe's iconic “Happy Birthday” performance at JFK's 45th birthday celebration in 1962.
According to James Spada, Monroe's biographer, there is some basis of truth behind these rumors.
“It was pretty clear that Marilyn had s**ual relations with both Bobby [Robert F. Kennedy] and Jack [John F. Kennedy],” Spada revealed.
However, another Monroe biographer, Donald Spoto, disagrees.
In his book, ‘Marilyn Monroe: The Biography,' Spoto argues that there is no concrete evidence to support the notion of a prolonged and intimate relationship between Monroe and JFK.
Nevertheless, his book aligns with Spada's account of Monroe and JFK's s**ual encounters.
Spoto writes, “All that can be known for certain is that on four occasions between October 1961 and August 1962, the president [JFK] and the actress [Monroe] met, and during one of those meetings, they telephoned one of Marilyn's friends from a bedroom…”
According to Ralph Roberts, Monroe's close friend and masseur, Monroe confided in him about a s**ual encounter with JFK on March 24, 1962, at Bing Crosby's house in Palm Springs.
Roberts shared this information with Spoto, stating, “Marilyn told me that this night in March was the only time of her ‘affair' with JFK.
Of course, she was titillated beyond belief because for a year he had been trying, through [Peter] Lawford, to have an evening with her.”
However, Secret Service agents who closely worked with JFK during that time downplay the significance of the encounter.
According to J. Randy Taraborrelli's book, ‘The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe,' one agent stated, “If there had been an affair, I would have known about it.
There was no affair.
Sorry.
There just wasn't.
It was one weekend, and that's it.”
Another agent added, “If there was more to it between them, they [Kennedy and Monroe] somehow managed to keep it from us—and I don't think you can keep something like that from the Secret Service.”
In addition to the alleged affair, rumors have circulated that Monroe's death was a murder orchestrated by JFK and his brother Robert F. Kennedy to cover up their involvement.
However, Spada clarifies that while there may have been a cover-up to conceal Monroe's intimate involvement with the Kennedy family, it is incorrect to assume that they were responsible for her death.
The truth behind Marilyn Monroe's alleged affair with JFK remains shrouded in mystery.
The accounts from various sources provide conflicting narratives, leaving room for speculation and interpretation.
Whether there was a clandestine relationship between Monroe and JFK or if it was merely a brief encounter, the allure of this enigmatic chapter in Hollywood history continues to captivate audiences and fuel speculation.
