Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy has reportedly stated that he is not interested in seeing his 10-year-old daughter Angel, whom he shares with America's Got Talent star Mel B.
This revelation came to light during a court hearing in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Mel B's ex-husband, Stephen Belafonte, who helped raise Angel during their 10-year marriage, is seeking step-parent visitation rights.
Belafonte claims that Angel has referred to him as her dad since she began talking.
However, Mel B vehemently opposes his efforts and is refusing to allow him to see their daughter.
Belafonte's lawyer, Grace Jamra, informed the court that she had been trying to contact Murphy to discuss Belafonte's request but has been unsuccessful.
Murphy, Angel's biological father, has allegedly had no contact with the child and has shown no interest in establishing a relationship.
Jamra also mentioned that she had attempted to serve Murphy with legal papers, but he has been actively avoiding being served.
In addition to the custody battle, Mel B and Belafonte are also dealing with the division of assets from their divorce.
Their former marital home, valued at an estimated $6-7 million, needs repairs before it can be sold.
Belafonte claims that Mel B has been delaying payment for her share of the necessary repairs.
As part of their divorce settlement, Mel B and Belafonte agreed to split the proceeds from the sale of their former home.
To ensure progress, Judge Mark Juhas ordered Mel B to pay $10,000 towards the repair costs, matching the amount Belafonte has already contributed.
Mel B and Belafonte's divorce was finalized in December after a contentious seven-month battle that included allegations of domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, and unconventional s**ual activities.
Belafonte was granted joint custody of their six-year-old daughter, Madison, and is now seeking step-parent rights to visit Angel.
However, Mel B has consistently blocked Belafonte's attempts to spend time with Angel.
She has referred to him as a “bad man” in court documents and accused him of being violent and abusive during their marriage.
Last week, she even claimed that he had exposed their children, including Madison, to ISIS beheading videos, an allegation that Belafonte vehemently denies.
Belafonte argues that the sudden severance of ties between Angel and himself has been emotionally damaging to the child.
He believes that Brown's actions have negatively affected Angel's mental health and overall well-being.
Despite his efforts, Belafonte has been unable to see Angel and claims that Mel B threw away toys he gave to Madison to pass along to her half-sister.
Eddie Murphy, who has been in a relationship with Paige Butcher since 2012, has made it clear that he does not wish to have a relationship with his 10-year-old daughter, Angel.
The settlement conference for Mel B and Belafonte's ongoing disputes is scheduled for May 29.
Meanwhile, Mel B has been ordered to provide a three-hour deposition to Belafonte's lawyers on April 23.
