Eddie Redmayne’s Sympathy for Prince William During Eton Days

The actor recalled playing rugby alongside the Duke of Cambridge, where he expressed empathy rather than admiration for the royal.

Redmayne revealed that during their rugby matches, all the focus was on tackling Prince William, with opponents eager to claim they had taken down the future king.

This situation led Redmayne to feel sorry for his schoolmate amidst the intense attention directed at him.

Interestingly, the actor mentioned that the spotlight on Prince William inadvertently benefited him as it diverted the pressure away from himself, allowing him to enjoy the game more freely by association with the royal figure.

Despite their camaraderie on the field and shared school experiences, Redmayne disclosed that he lost touch with Prince William post-graduation, which consequently resulted in his exclusion from the guest list for the royal nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011.

The book detailed a period in the royal couple's romance when Prince William felt suffocated and opted for a getaway to Greece.

Accompanied by his friend Guy Pelly, the duo embarked on a trip without Middleton, causing tension as she held negative opinions about Pelly.
