Elvis Presley’s Refusal to Engage in Intimacy with Priscilla for Seven Years, Despite Her Pleas

The Enigmatic Relationship of Elvis and Priscilla Presley Unveiled

In a whirlwind ceremony that appeared more like a publicity stunt, the iconic superstar tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Beaulieu on May 1, 1967.

The wedding, which lasted a mere eight minutes, took place at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas and was organized by Colonel Parker, Elvis' manager.

Following the nuptials, a press conference and a lavish breakfast reception costing $10,000 were held, attended by friends, family, and associates from MGM, RCA, and the William Morris Agency, companies associated with Elvis' film and record ventures.

However, some of Elvis' closest confidantes, including Red West, were not invited to witness the actual wedding ceremony.

Soon after, the newlyweds embarked on a brief honeymoon in Palm Springs until May 4, during which their relationship was finally consummated.

Interestingly, Elvis and Priscilla had been together for a staggering seven years prior to their marriage.

Their relationship began in 1959 when Priscilla was just 14 years old, and she had been sharing his bed almost since the beginning.

Despite this, rumors circulated that Elvis had never truly desired to marry her.

In fact, according to Alberta Holman, Elvis' long-term housekeeper and a close friend of his late mother Gladys, she found him crying inconsolably on the eve of the wedding.

Alberta, affectionately nicknamed Alberta VO5 after the renowned hair product brand, had been a part of the Presley household for many years.

After Gladys' passing, she would often prepare Elvis' favorite meal consisting of bacon, hash browns, and black-eyed peas.

In the biography “Down at the End of Lonely Street: The Life and Death of ” by Peter Harry Brown and Pat H. Broeske, Alberta recalled how she discovered Elvis in tears about the impending wedding in 1967.

When questioned as to why he didn't simply cancel it if it made him so unhappy, Elvis reportedly replied, “I don't have a choice.”

The circumstances surrounding the marriage were further complicated by claims that Priscilla's father, displeased with Elvis living with his daughter for so long without any formal commitment, threatened to press charges against the star for transporting a minor across state lines during their early years together.

Other reports suggested that Priscilla herself had pressured Elvis into marriage, threatening to disclose details about their relationship to the press, particularly considering her young age at the time.

There were even allegations that Priscilla's mother, Ann Beaulieu Sanders, gave Elvis an ultimatum: marry Priscilla or let her go, as the situation was beginning to tarnish his public image.

Despite his notorious reputation for numerous affairs throughout his career, including with his film co-stars, Elvis was resolute in his decision to keep Priscilla chaste until they wed. During his courtship with Priscilla, while officially dating actress Anita Wood, he became entangled in a passionate affair with Ann-Margret, his co-star in “Viva Las Vegas.”

This indiscretion led Priscilla to hurl a vase against the wall in a fit of anger.

Beyond the constant infidelities, Priscilla yearned for a more intimate connection, confessing, “Elvis would take me into his bedroom and then we would engage in long, deep, passionate kisses, and his touches would leave me overwhelmed with desire.”

However, in an interview with Barbara Walters, Priscilla revealed that Elvis refused to go any further, stating, “There was an agreement he made with himself that the woman he decided to take as his wife would remain untouched until marriage…I can only refer back to his vision of the ideal woman.

Somewhere in his past, he expressed a desire for a virgin.”

The claim that Priscilla remained a virgin until her wedding night is disputed by biographer Susan Finstad in her 1997 biography, “Child Bride: The Untold Story of Priscilla Beaulieu Presley.”

Finstad suggests that Priscilla had engaged in previous s**ual relationships with individuals such as Tommy Stewart, Peter von Wechmar, Jamie Lindberg, and potentially Ron Tapp, prior to her marriage to Elvis.

Curiously, shortly after their wedding, Priscilla discovered that she was pregnant—a revelation that caught her off guard.

The enigmatic relationship between Elvis and Priscilla continues to captivate fans and historians alike.

From their secret trysts to their eventual marriage, the couple's journey is marked by complexity, passion, and unanswered questions.

Their story is a reminder that even the world's greatest stars are not immune to the complexities of love
