Elvis Presley, the legendary musician, reportedly declined to engage in s**ual relations with his wife, Priscilla, for a duration of seven years.
Despite her plea of “please don't make me beg,” Priscilla claimed to have remained a virgin until their wedding day.
On May 1, 1967, Presley and his long-time girlfriend tied the knot at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.
The wedding, orchestrated by Colonel Tom Parker, Presley's manager, was accompanied by a press conference and an opulent breakfast reception costing $10,000 (£8,000).
Friends, family, and colleagues from MGM, RCA, and the William Morris Agency, affiliated with Presley's film and record companies, were in attendance.
Following the nuptials, the newlyweds embarked on a private jet for their honeymoon in Palm Springs, California, which lasted until May 4.
Reportedly, it was during this time that they consummated their relationship for the first time.
Prior to the marriage, the couple had been together for approximately seven years, starting when Priscilla was just 14 years old.
Although Priscilla had been sharing Elvis's bed, there have been claims that he never intended to marry her.
In the biography “Down at the End of Lonely Street: The Life and Death of Elvis Presley” by Peter Harry Brown and Pat H Broeske, Alberta Holman, a longtime housekeeper for the Presley family, revealed that she found Elvis crying about the impending wedding.
When she asked why he didn't cancel it, he allegedly replied, “I don't have a choice.”
Other rumors circulated that Priscilla pressured Elvis into marriage.
Additionally, there were speculations that Priscilla's father, upset over Elvis living with his daughter for so many years without making their relationship official, threatened to press charges against the star for transporting a minor across state lines.
Priscilla desperately desired to take their relationship to a more intimate level.
She later disclosed, “Elvis would take me into his bedroom, and then we would engage in long, passionate kisses that left me yearning for more.”
However, according to an interview with Barbara Walters, Elvis never pursued further intimacy, as he had previously expressed a desire for a virgin partner.
Privately, Elvis was notorious for engaging in numerous affairs throughout his career, particularly with his co-stars in films.
At the time of meeting Priscilla, he was dating actress Anita Wood and had a significant entanglement with Ann Margret, his co-star in “Viva Las Vegas.”
Susan Finstad, in her 1997 biography “Child Bride: The Untold Story of Priscilla Beaulieu Presley,” revealed that Priscilla claimed her first night of marriage in the upstairs master bedroom of their Palm Springs house marked the loss of her virginity.
However, this conveniently overlooked her previous s**ual relationships with Tommy Stewart, Peter von Wechmar, Jamie Lindberg, and possibly Ron Tapp.
Shortly after the wedding, Priscilla discovered that she was pregnant, which came as an unexpected surprise.
Apparently, she had asked Elvis if she could take birth control pills, but he claimed they were not perfected yet.
The pregnancy marked the beginning of the end for their relationship, and they eventually separated in February 1972.
Priscilla reflected on their troubled dynamic, stating, “Elvis struggled with the fact that I was both a mother and the little girl he cherished.
