Actress Emilia Clarke, known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the popular HBO series “Game of Thrones,” has disclosed that she faced coercion to partake in n^de scenes to satisfy the show's audience.
During an episode of Dax Shepard's podcast “Armchair Expert,” Clarke, 33, shared a troubling experience where she stood her ground against a n^de scene despite being cautioned that it might disappoint the devoted viewers of “Game of Thrones.”
Recounting her defiance on set, Clarke mentioned instances where she insisted on maintaining her modesty, only to be met with opposition from the production team who implied that refusing would upset the show's fan base.
She boldly expressed her disagreement with such demands.
The talented star, who also appeared in “Last Christmas,” confessed to feeling overwhelmed by the excessive n^dty featured in the initial season of the show.
Despite rationalizing that on-screen n^dty was acceptable, given her limited prior experience on film sets, she still grappled with the concept of exposing herself.
Clarke shared her discomfort at finding herself completely exposed during filming, uncertain of the expectations surrounding such scenes, especially as a newcomer to the industry.
This vulnerability left her feeling uneasy and unsure of how to navigate such intimate moments.
Jason Momoa, renowned for his role as Khal Drogo, Daenerys' husband in the early seasons of “Game of Thrones,” played a significant role in guiding Clarke on setting boundaries.
According to reports from the Independent, Momoa supported her in asserting her comfort levels during filming, providing invaluable advice.
Acknowledging the challenges she faced, Clarke expressed gratitude for Momoa's intervention, highlighting the importance of having a supportive co-star who prioritized her well-being over on-screen demands.
His encouragement empowered her to prioritize her own comfort in sensitive situations.
In light of her past experiences, Clarke has established clear boundaries, leading to a noticeable decrease in explicit scenes involving her character, Daenerys, in the subsequent seasons of the show.
Notably, one particular scene where Daenerys instructs Daario Naharis, portrayed by Dutch actor Michiel Huisman, to disrobe in her presence garnered attention for its unique approach, as reported by Uproxx.
Clarke emphasized her growth in asserting her preferences and limitations, indicating a heightened awareness of what aligns with her personal boundaries.
This evolution reflects her increased confidence and self-assurance in navigating potentially uncomfortable situations on set.
Currently, Emilia Clarke can be seen starring alongside Henry Gold
