Obtained by PEOPLE earlier this year, the 2016 FBI investigation report regarding the altercation between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt on a private aircraft has surfaced.
Jolie, under the guise of “Jane Doe,” sought access to FBI records related to the 2016 plane incident through the Freedom of Information Act amidst an ongoing custody dispute with Pitt, who is the father of their six children.
The recently disclosed documents, heavily censored, shed light on the purported events of September 14, 2016, just days before Jolie initiated divorce proceedings.
Allegedly, the Los Angeles Department of Child and Family Services and the FBI probed Pitt following an anonymous tip about an inebriated argument he engaged in with Jolie during a flight from France to Los Angeles.
Reports at the time suggested Pitt was verbally and physically aggressive towards one of their children, accusations he refuted.
By November of the same year, the FBI concluded its inquiry without pressing charges against Pitt.
Concurrently, the DCFS also wrapped up its examination with no substantiated claims of abuse.
One section of the FBI dossier reveals Jolie's account portraying a tense atmosphere between her and Pitt on the plane.
She expressed feeling like a captive due to Pitt's alleged aggressive behavior, including grabbing her, shoving her against a wall, and hitting the plane's ceiling.
Jolie recounted how Pitt appeared on the verge of attacking their child for addressing him disrespectfully, prompting her to act defensively by encircling his neck in a chokehold-like manner.
Jolie depicted Pitt's demeanor as increasingly hostile, likening it to that of a “monster” as he raged and intimidated them during the flight.
She described herself and the children as being in a state of shock, highlighting her own feelings of fear and helplessness in that harrowing moment.
Moreover, Jolie asserted damages amounting to around $25,000 caused by wine stains on the aircraft and alleged that Pitt poured beer on her during the incident.
The report documented injuries to Jolie's back, elbow, and hand, resembling a rug burn, while Pitt sustained a scratch that Jolie speculated may have resulted from her actions.
A close source to Pitt dismissed the revelations, emphasizing that both parties were already aware of these details for years.
The source underscored the lack of new information and the detrimental impact of publicizing such sensitive matters on the welfare of the children and the family as a whole.
Having been legally declared single in 2019, Pitt and Jolie continue to navigate their parental responsibilities towards their six children.
Jolie reflected on the challenges of her divorce in an interview, expressing the gravity of her decisions and her desire for her family, including their father, to find a way forward despite the hardships.
The contentious issues between Pitt and Jolie extend beyond their personal disputes, with ongoing legal battles over various matters, including Jolie's divestment from Château Miraval, a winery they jointly owned and where they exchanged vows in 2014.
Amidst these conflicts, sources suggest Pitt maintains a positive relationship with his older children while striving to lead a fulfilling life post-divorce.
