In a recent interview, Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie, expressed that she had not truly met Meghan Markle.
Amid discussions surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of York has been candid about her interactions with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the lead-up to the release of her upcoming book, “A Most Fascinating Woman.”
Unlike many members of the Royal Family who have remained tight-lipped, the 63-year-old Duchess shared her perspective in an interview with People magazine.
While she mentioned having no judgment towards the couple, she disclosed that her acquaintance with Meghan was limited.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Fergie highlighted that she had never formally met the Duchess.
However, Fergie did recall a brief interaction with Meghan at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September of the previous year.
During a conversation with journalist Celia Walden, Fergie admitted that she found Meghan to be lovely but emphasized that their encounter was fleeting.
“I don't actually know Meghan,” Fergie remarked.
“I've never actually met her.”
The revelation comes after Meghan Markle previously shared during a 2020 interview with Oprah Winfrey that Fergie had provided last-minute guidance on how to curtsy.
Recalling a moment in October 2016 when she was caught off guard before meeting the Queen, Meghan praised Fergie for stepping in to offer assistance on proper curtsying etiquette.
Describing the impromptu curtsy lesson, Meghan reflected on how Fergie's guidance helped her navigate the formalities of royal protocol.
The Duchess of Sussex humorously recounted the incident where Fergie prompted her readiness to curtsy before meeting the Queen, highlighting the supportive role Fergie played in her royal introduction.
Following their departure from senior royal duties, Meghan and Harry have continued to make headlines with their public appearances and projects.
Fergie refrained from commenting on any potential harm Meghan may have caused the royal family but commended her for bringing happiness to Harry and creating a life that Princess Diana would have been proud of in Montecito.
With their two children, Archie and Lilibet, the couple now resides in California, where they have embarked on new ventures beyond their royal roles.
Meghan's encounters with other members of the royal family, including her first meeting with Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, have also been subjects of interest and speculation.
