Renowned CBS morning host, Gail King, expressed her solidarity with the Duke and Duchess following Prince Harry's announcement that he will be present at his father's coronation, King Charles III.
Attending the Time 100 gala in New York City on April 26th, King shared her thoughts with Us Weekly on the red carpet.
She commended the royal couple for their choice of having Prince Harry attend the coronation while Meghan remains in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Elizabeth.
“I think Meghan and Harry should do what's best for them,” the seasoned journalist, aged 68, remarked.
“Clearly, they know what's going on in their family life and over there.”
Having previously defended the couple in response to their Netflix docuseries, “Harry and Meghan,” King emphasized that she refrains from offering unwanted advice regarding their relationship with the royal family.
“They consult me about nothing when it comes to that or anything of that matter,” she clarified.
“I think they make the decision that's best for them, but I think as far as his dad, I'm glad he's going.”
Buckingham Palace confirmed on April 12th that Prince Harry will indeed be present at the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla at Westminster in London on May 6th.
However, Meghan will remain in California as it coincides with their son's fourth birthday.
In an official statement, Buckingham Palace affirmed, “The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,” while mentioning that the Duchess of Sussex will stay in California with their children.
This news resolves months of speculation surrounding Prince Harry's attendance, especially after his candid revelations about the royal family in his memoir, “Spare,” released last January.
The couple's Netflix docuseries also shed light on their grievances with the royal family.
Despite their reported tensions, King disclosed that Harry and Meghan are in a positive space.
“You've seen the two of them together and I know what they have is really true blue, and it's good to see the happiness that they give each other,” she remarked.
Defending the couple once again in December 2022, King emphasized that their documentary was not a reality show, underscoring her personal connection with them through Oprah Winfrey.
Deepak Chopra, a well-known figure in mindfulness, offered a contrasting perspective on the couple's situation amidst the rift with the royal family.
“They're struggling right now.
I hope they get through it light-hearted,” he mentioned.
Advising them to ignore the drama surrounding them, Chopra highlighted the importance of not reacting to avoid exacerbating the situation.
Previously, reports indicated that Harry sought an apology from his father, Charles, and brother, the Prince of Wales, before committing to the ceremony, emphasizing that the door for reconciliation remains open.
As the royal saga continues to unfold, opinions vary on the dynamics within the royal family.
