Geena Davis’s Encounter: How She Managed Jack Nicholson’s Advances

Geena Davis has shared an incident where she handled advances from by recalling advice given to her by Dustin Hoffman, her co-star in the film “Tootsie.”

The 66-year-old Oscar winner revealed in an interview with The New Yorker that she gained valuable insights from Hoffman, aged 85, while working alongside him in their romantic comedy in 1982.

Apart from advising the inexperienced actress to broaden her knowledge through reading, Hoffman also recommended that Davis deter overly enthusiastic men in the industry by responding, “Well, you're very attractive.

I would love to, but it would ruin the s**ual tension between us.”

She mentioned storing this advice for later use.

Before landing the role of April Page in “Tootsie,” Davis was a Victoria's Secret lingerie model based in New York aspiring to establish herself as an actress.

Following the release of the movie, her modeling agent arranged for Davis and a few other actor-models to meet casting directors in Hollywood.

It happened that Nicholson, 85, whom her agent knew, had dinner with the young star and her peers regularly.

One day, Davis found a note under her door asking her to call at a provided number.

Excited, she contacted the renowned actor, known for his role in “The Shining.”

During the call, Nicholson inquired, “Hey, Geena.

When is it gonna happen?”

This unexpected question caught Davis off guard.

Recalling the incident, she admitted to not anticipating the nature of the conversation.

However, she swiftly responded with the line advised by Hoffman: “Uh, Jack, I would love to.

You're very attractive.

But I have a feeling we're going to work together at some point in the future, and I would hate to have ruined the s**ual tension between us.”

Nicholson was surprised by her reply, asking where she got that response from.

Davis recounted that he acknowledged her clever tactic.

This episode, initially shared by Davis in 2014, is one of the many stories included in her recently published memoir, titled “Dying of Politeness.”

As of now, representatives for Nicholson have not issued any comments regarding this matter.
