Gianni Russo, known for his role as Carlo Rizzi in The Godfather, is making headlines with his upcoming book, Hollywood Godfather: My Life in the Movies and the Mob.
In this memoir, Russo claims to have witnessed JFK snorting cocaine off the stomach of an actress and reveals startling information about Marilyn Monroe's death.
Russo's life story sounds like something out of a movie itself.
From getting tortured by Pablo Escobar to being involved in the 1979 Iranian Revolution, he has experienced it all.
He even played a role in helping Marlon Brando's son beat murder charges.
These revelations are nothing short of mind-boggling.
In an interview with NorthJersey.com, Russo shared some jaw-dropping excerpts from his book.
While many of his claims may seem difficult to verify, Russo stands by them, asserting that they are 100 percent true.
One of the shocking incidents he recalls is seeing JFK snort cocaine off the stomach of actress Juliet Prowse.
This revelation left him astounded, questioning whether this was the kind of behavior expected from a future president.
Another astonishing claim made by Russo is his prior knowledge of the Kennedy assassination.
As a teenager, he was acquainted with mob boss Frank Costello, who entrusted him with a crucial assignment.
In November 1963, Russo was given a sealed envelope to deliver to “Little Man” Carlos Marcello, a Louisiana mafioso.
Little did he know that he would encounter Lee Harvey Oswald, the man who would later be identified as the assassin.
Realizing the significance of the encounter only after hearing about the assassination, Russo felt devastated, having developed a close friendship with Senator John F. Kennedy during their time at the Sands hotel.
Regarding Marilyn Monroe's death, Russo claims that it was not a suicide but a plot orchestrated by the mob.
According to him, the mob wanted compromising photos of Monroe with JFK and his brother RFK to pressure the Kennedys into halting their organized crime investigations.
When Monroe threatened to expose the affair to the press, her fate was sealed.
The mob believed that such a scandal would tarnish the reputation of the two Catholic brothers, who had won the presidency by a narrow margin and couldn't afford negative publicity.
Russo's astonishing tales don't end there.
He also recounts an incident in 1988 when he shot a man in a Las Vegas nightclub.
Unbeknownst to him, the man turned out to be connected to Pablo Escobar's crime empire.
Fearing retaliation from Escobar, Russo traveled to Colombia to personally explain the situation to the notorious drug lord.
Surprisingly, Escobar, being a huge fan of The Godfather, spared Russo and his family, due to his admiration for the film.
Additionally, Russo claims to have played a role in helping Marlon Brando's son evade a murder charge in 1990, as well as assisting the Shah of Iran in transferring his wealth out of the country during the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
These revelations from Russo's book are undeniably intriguing.
Although the validity of some claims may be difficult to ascertain, they provide a fascinating insight into the hidden world of Hollywood and organized crime.
