Actress Halle Berry, now 47 years old, made a bold move during her acting debut in the 1991 film ‘Jungle Fever' alongside Samuel L. Jackson.
Portraying a crack-cocaine addict in the movie, Berry decided to fully immerse herself into her character by refraining from showering throughout the entire eight weeks of production.
She recently shared that while she didn't go as far as experimenting with actual drugs for the role, she committed to embodying the character through this unorthodox method.
Reflecting on her approach to the role, Berry expressed, “I didn't smoke crack.
I drew the line there but it was 23 years ago so I was brand spanking new and at that time all I could really do was kind of try to be it, to be it so I didn't shower for the whole entire time that we shot that movie, so that was probably about eight weeks.”
She further added, “It was gnarly, it was gnarly.
Certain body parts got washed, let's just say that.”
A decade later, Berry achieved a significant milestone in her career by winning the prestigious Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘Monster's Ball'.
Interestingly, she disclosed that she keeps the coveted Oscar statuette in her bedroom, away from the public eye.
In her home shared with husband Olivier Martinez, Berry ensures that the award remains a personal and private symbol of her accomplishment.
When asked about the discreet placement of her Oscar, Berry revealed, “I keep him in my bedroom so nobody ever sees him.
He's very protected in my room all tucked
