Harvey Weinstein’s Influence: Peter Jackson Reveals Blacklisting of Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino

Film director Peter Jackson has confessed to ostracizing actresses Ashley Judd and Mira Sorvino due to pressure exerted by Harvey Weinstein, who stands accused of s–ual misconduct.

Jackson recalled being informed by Miramax, the production company run by Harvey and Bob Weinstein, that working with Judd and Sorvino would be challenging and advised to avoid casting them at all costs.

Consequently, both actresses were excluded from consideration for roles in Jackson's Lord of the Rings film series.

Looking back, Jackson now believes that the negative portrayal of Judd and Sorvino was part of a deliberate effort to tarnish their reputation orchestrated by Miramax.

He acknowledged that they were likely misled about the capabilities of these talented women.

This revelation sheds light on the intricate web of enablers and informants surrounding Weinstein, detailing the tactics of spreading rumors and threats he allegedly used to shield himself from allegations of s–ual assault and punish those who resisted his advances.

Both Sorvino and Judd have openly stated that they rejected Weinstein's inappropriate advances.

Sorvino expressed feeling marginalized in the industry after rebuffing him, while Judd noted her familiarity with the situation recounted by Jackson.

Upon learning of Jackson's disclosure, Sorvino expressed her emotional reaction via Twitter, acknowledging that Weinstein indeed obstructed her career advancement.

Despite working on the Lord of the Rings project with Miramax in the early 1990s, Jackson eventually transitioned to New Line Cinema for production.

A representative for Harvey Weinstein refuted any involvement in casting decisions, attributing them solely to New Line due to Disney's withdrawal from financing the project.

The spokesperson emphasized Weinstein's respect for Jackson and clarified that Judd had been cast in other films post the alleged harassment incident.

Similarly, Sorvino remained under consideration for various projects.
