A distressing video has emerged showing a wife desperately fighting against her abusive husband moments before he allegedly strangled her to death and threw her body out of a fourth-floor window.
The footage, released by the police, captures the shocking levels of aggression displayed by Luis Felipe Manvailer towards his wife, Lawyer Tatiane Spitzner.
The incident occurred in Brazil, where forensic investigators have recently concluded that Spitzner was not killed due to a fall, but rather was strangled while inside their apartment.
Spitzner, aged 29, was found dead in the couple’s apartment in Guarapuava, South Brazil, on July 22nd.
Police suspected that Manvailer, a 32-year-old university biology lecturer, had killed his wife after violently assaulting her.
However, Manvailer claimed that they argued and she died after throwing herself off the balcony.
Nevertheless, the forensic findings indicate that Tatiane met a violent end and was choked to death while desperately trying to defend herself.
The autopsy report revealed imprints of hands on her throat and a fractured hyoid bone, which is commonly associated with strangulation.
The investigation further uncovered multiple fractures consistent with a fall from a height, suggesting that Spitzner’s body was thrown from the apartment after her death.
Researchers noted that there was no evidence of fear or awareness of impending danger, as there were no traces of adrenaline or cortisol in her body.
Additionally, significant blood alcohol levels were detected in her blood, indicating vulnerability.
CCTV footage from an underground car park and elevator captured Tatiane’s attempts to escape her husband’s violence.
The suspect was seen bringing her lifeless body up in the elevator and cleaning bloodstains off the walls.
According to criminal prosecutor Dunia Rampazzo, “Our investigation proves that the victim was killed inside the apartment by asphyxiation and her body was thrown over the balcony of the apartment.
We believe the accused then took the elevator to the ground floor and collected Tatiane’s body, taking it back up to the apartment in the elevator.”
Witnesses reported seeing a man picking up the victim’s body from the pavement and hearing him shout, “my love, wake up.”
Manvailer admitted to bringing the body into the flat and was later arrested on suspicion of murder.
Tatiane Spitzner’s tragic death has sparked national outrage in Brazil, prompting discussions about domestic abuse and the vulnerability of women in the country.
In 2017 alone, 1,133 women were victims of femicide, highlighting the urgent need for action against these crimes.
The forensic investigation into Spitzner’s death took longer than expected due to the complexity of the case.
Multiple simulations were conducted to understand the dynamics of her fall from the fourth-floor flat.
Disturbing text messages sent by Spitzner months before her death revealed her fear and accusations of mistreatment by her husband.
Close friends claimed that she wanted a divorce.
However, the defense lawyer argued that the couple had a happy relationship.
The violent incident that led to Spitzner’s death began with an argument over images found on Manvailer’s phone.
Security cameras documented the escalating violence, starting with slapping inside a car and continuing in the underground car park and elevator, where Spitzner was brutally battered and overpowered.
Luis Felipe Manvailer has been charged with murder, including the qualifiers of femicide, cruelty, clumsy motive, and hindering the victim’s defense.
He remains in prison awaiting trial.
The tragic case of Tatiane Spitzner serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to address domestic violence and protect vulnerable individuals.
