Robert Downey Jr has extended an olive branch to his former co-star Hugh Grant, after Grant admitted that Downey instantly disliked him and wanted to kill him on the set of their film Restoration in 1995.
Downey, known for his role as Iron Man, reached out to Grant on Twitter, expressing his respect for him as an artist and his desire to bury the hatchet.
Grant had previously referred to Downey as a “d**k” and claimed that he still holds that opinion of him.
Grant's revelation came during an interview with Jess Cagle, where he discussed his relationship with Downey and also touched on fatherhood.
The 57-year-old actor, who is rumored to be expecting his fifth child with girlfriend Anna Eberstein, spoke about the joy of having children and how it has changed his perspective on life.
Grant has two children with Eberstein, in addition to two children from a previous relationship.
During the interview, Grant also talked about his eight-year romance with Elizabeth Hurley, which ended in 2000 following his highly publicized arrest for lewd conduct with a prostitute.
Reflecting on the incident, Grant dubbed himself an “idiot” and expressed regret for his actions.
He admitted that he should have acknowledged having a psychological problem instead of simply admitting his wrongdoing.
Despite their split, Grant and Hurley have remained close friends, with Grant even serving as the godfather to Hurley's son.
Grant's current partner, Anna Eberstein, is reportedly pregnant, which would make this his fifth child.
Overall, Grant's interview covered topics ranging from his relationship with Downey to his experiences as a father and his past relationship with Hurley.
Grant's candidness and willingness to discuss personal matters added depth to the interview and shed light on different aspects of his life.
