Danny Trejo recently shared a chilling account from his past, recalling a peculiar incident involving the notorious figure Charles Manson while they were both incarcerated six decades ago.
The revelation comes from Trejo's memoir, where he delves into the unsettling experience of being hypnotized by Manson during their time in jail, as reported by Page Six.
Back in 1961 at the Los Angeles County Jail, Trejo encountered Manson, whom he described as “greasy, dirty, scrawny,” in dire need of protection.
Trejo noted that Manson was so destitute that he resorted to using a piece of string as a makeshift belt to hold up his pants.
Touched by Manson's pitiful state, the Machete star, along with two other inmates in his cell named Johnny Ronnie and Tacho, extended their support to him.
In a surprising turn of events, Manson claimed to possess hypnotic abilities that could induce a state of euphoria akin to being under the influence of drugs.
Employing a technique he referred to as “guided meditation,” Manson managed to ensnare Trejo and his companions into a trance where they believed they were engaging in drug-related activities, such as smoking marijuana and using heroin.
Recalling the harrowing encounter, Trejo recounted how Manson orchestrated a vivid narrative, instructing them to visualize the entire process of acquiring, preparing, and injecting heroin.
The detailed description was so compelling that Trejo could almost taste the drugs in his mouth even before the simulated injection.
The sensation of warmth coursing through his body upon the imaginary drug entering his bloodstream left a lasting impression on Trejo.
Following his release from jail in 1967, Manson embarked on a dark path, drawing vulnerable individuals, particularly young women, into his fold, forming what would later be known as the Manson Family.
The infamous events of August 1969 marked a turning point when the group committed the heinous murders of actress Sharon Tate, who was nearly nine months pregnant, and four others in a residence in Beverly Hills.
Although Manson did not directly perpetrate the killings, his manipulative prowess and persuasive charm were instrumental in his conviction for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
With the abolition of the death penalty in California, Manson was sentenced to
