Charlie Sheen Settles Lawsuit Over HIV Disclosure for $120,000
Charlie Sheen has reached a settlement in a legal case where he was sued by an ex-girlfriend for allegedly exposing her to HIV.
The lawsuit, amounting to $120,000, was filed by the woman identified only as Jane Doe.
She claimed that Sheen knowingly put her at risk by not disclosing his HIV status when questioned about any s–ually transmissible diseases.
According to court documents, the plaintiff, described as a “Russian émigré,” met Sheen in September 2015 and soon after engaged in s–ual activity with him.
Initially, Sheen used protection, but later opted for unprotected intercourse starting from October 26, 2015.
The filings revealed that Sheen confessed to being HIV positive after their encounters.
He was diagnosed with the disease back in 2011.
The woman alleged that Sheen provided her with medication aimed at preventing HIV contraction and later praised himself for being forthcoming about his diagnosis.
When asked why he had not disclosed his condition earlier, Sheen reportedly responded aggressively, stating it was not her concern.
He dismissed the necessity of antiviral medications and disregarded medical advice regarding HIV, deeming it as mere rumors perpetuated by the medical community.
Sheen publicly disclosed his HIV status on the “Today” show with Matt Lauer in 2015.
This revelation came after the alleged incident with Jane Doe but before his former fiancée, Scottine Ross, sued him for assault and battery for failing to inform her of his HIV status.
Addressing the situation in an interview with Piers Morgan in 2016, Sheen admitted to not informing multiple partners about his HIV status.
He defended this by claiming that previous partners had exploited his condition for personal gain, suggesting that none of them had contracted the disease from him.
Despite Sheen's claims, the recent lawsuit focused on his deliberate nondisclosure of his HIV status concerning s–ually transmissible diseases, which is considered a serious offense in several states across the United States.
In a separate development, Denise Richards, Sheen's ex-wife, opened up about their tumultuous marriage on a podcast, revealing that their relationship was more challenging than what was portrayed in public.
