Carrie Fisher has stirred up excitement once again.
In her latest book, The Princess Diarist, set to hit the shelves on November 22, the actress delves into her past journals from the Star Wars filming days, recounting a time in another era when she engaged in a three-month relationship with co-star Harrison Ford.
Extracts from the book obtained by Radar disclose that Fisher admits to being “wine-soaked” during their first intimate encounter, which took place after Ford offered her a ride home.
At just 19 years old then, Fisher candidly mentions that while it wasn't an ideal experience, she couldn't deny Ford's striking appeal.
Describing the affair as “intense,” Fisher shared with People magazine, “It was Han and Leia on the weekdays, and Carrie and Harrison over the weekends.” The Princess Diarist also showcases snippets from Fisher's diary entries dating back to the late '70s, portraying her teenage fantasies of Ford proposing marriage with a special ring inscribed with “Carrison.”
She admits struggling to recollect many specifics about their liaison due to “the potent effects of Harrison's choice of marijuana.”
Despite the haze of memories, Fisher unveils some anecdotes in People's released excerpt.
She reminisces about their passionate kisses, recalling a moment in a taxi where Ford drew her closer for an unforgettable embrace, foreshadowing the on-screen chemistry they would later exhibit in The Empire Strikes Back without any need for cinematic enhancements.
Fisher acknowledges their bond never ventured into deep waters, even amidst playful jests about engagement.
One peculiar memory Fisher recounts involves an episode at Ford's residence when fellow cast member Mark and crew member Peter unexpectedly dropped by around eleven in the morning.
In a light-hearted tone, Ford humorously proclaimed, “We're engaged,” debunking any rumors of a serious relationship between them, much to Fisher's amusement.
Reflecting on their connection, Fisher characterizes it as a “prolonged one-night fling,” expressing relief when it eventually concluded, attributing her disapproval of herself to the affair.
She praises Ford as a fundamentally good, though enigmatic and reserved individual who treated her respectfully.
Acknowledging his loyalty, Fisher notes the infidelity towards his then-wife, Mary Marquardt, with whom he shared two children.
Ford, who was 34 at the time of the affair, is now happily married to Calista Flockhart, with the possibility of a lasting future with Fisher fading away.
