Jackie Chan Faces Backlash for ‘Abandoning’ Lesbian Daughter Etta Ng Chok Lam Following Viral Video

However, this prompted controversy as fans criticized him for allegedly abandoning his openly gay daughter, Etta Ng Chok Lam.

The Hong Kong-born actor, now 69 years old, found himself at the center of a social media storm after the emotional scene circulated online.

Initially, audiences embraced the sentimental clip, unaware that it was from a movie.

But as details of Chan's strained relationship with his real-life daughter emerged, public opinion quickly shifted.

Etta Ng Chok Lam is Chan's daughter from a 1999 extramarital affair with beauty pageant queen Elaine Ng Yi-lei.

The pair never married, as Chan has been wed to his wife Joan Lin since 1982.

Reports suggest that Chan cut off communication with Ng Yi-lei when he discovered she was pregnant.

He has allegedly never met his daughter or provided any financial support for her upbringing.

Etta also disclosed that she had experienced homelessness, living with her girlfriend, Andi Autumn.

The couple claimed that they were forced onto the streets due to their relationship and feared being separated if they sought help from government shelters.

Etta and Autumn married in November 2018 after dating for a year and a half.
