James Franco and Seth Rogen, once inseparable collaborators, have revealed that they do not have any plans to work together in the future.
The duo's friendship hit a rough patch after Franco faced multiple allegations of s**ual misconduct in 2018.
Rogen initially expressed his intention to continue working with Franco but has since distanced himself from the actor and director.
In a recent interview on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Podcast, Franco expressed his love for Rogen and discussed his former colleague's decision.
Franco stated, “He was asked about me, and I just wanna say I absolutely love Seth Rogen… We didn't have one fight for 20 years.
Not one fight.
He was my absolute closest work friend, collaborator.
We just gelled.”
The pair first met on the popular television series Freaks and Geeks and went on to create comedic hits such as Pineapple Express, This Is the End, and The Interview.
Their last collaboration, The Disaster Artist in 2017, received critical acclaim.
However, Franco's personal issues, particularly the allegations of s**ual exploitation made by his former acting students, have cast doubt on any future collaborations between the two.
Franco acknowledged the truth behind Rogen's statement, saying that they are not currently working together and have no plans to do so.
He also expressed his understanding of Rogen having to address their professional relationship publicly on his behalf.
Franco recently reached a settlement with two of his former acting students who had filed a s**ual misconduct lawsuit against him in 2019.
As part of the agreement, the students dropped their individual claims.
During the interview with Cagle, Franco admitted to having relationships with his students and acknowledged his ignorance regarding power dynamics and people's feelings.
He emphasized that he has done significant personal growth since the allegations emerged and wants to spare others from having to answer for his actions.
While Franco is cautiously returning to the spotlight after working on himself, it remains uncertain whether he and Rogen will ever collaborate again.
The full interview with James Franco will premiere on Thursday, Dec. 22, on Sirius XM.
It will also be aired on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show on Thursday, Dec. 23, at 2:00 p.m.
ET.
The conversation sheds light on the end of a fruitful professional partnership and the challenges faced by both individuals.
