Jane Seymour, the renowned British actress known for her roles in movies like “Live and Let Die,” “Superman,” and the TV series “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman,” has revealed her personal experience with s**ual harassment as a young actress in Hollywood.
In an interview with Sky News' “Sunrise” morning show, Seymour shared how an incident with an unnamed producer halted her acting career for an entire year.
According to The Daily Mail, Seymour had gone to Hollywood for a screen test and was invited to the home of a “major producer” who expressed interest in casting her in his film.
However, when she arrived, she found herself alone with him, which has unfortunately become a common occurrence for many victims.
Despite expecting to see others present, Seymour was left in a vulnerable situation.
Recalling the incident, Seymour said that after complimenting her suitability for the movie, the producer made inappropriate advances, saying, “‘I've done my bit and now it's your turn to do your bit'… ‘No, no, you know what you have to do.'”
She stated that he put his hand on her thigh, high up, leaving her feeling extremely uncomfortable.
Being British, Seymour instinctively crossed her legs and tried to distance herself from the producer by sliding down the couch.
Eventually, she had no choice but to stand up and request to be taken home, as she had reached her limit.
She revealed that the producer, who held significant power in Hollywood at the time, threatened her, stating that if she ever spoke about the incident or even mentioned being in his house, she would face severe consequences.
He warned her that she would never work in the industry again.
This traumatic experience had a profound impact on Seymour's career, causing her to stop working as an actress for an entire year.
Her story adds to the growing list of allegations of s**ual harassment and misconduct in the entertainment industry, following the exposé on Harvey Weinstein published by The New York Times last month.
Despite the challenges she faced, Seymour is set to appear in Robert De Niro's upcoming comedy film, “The War With Grandpa,” which is scheduled for release in February.
Her resilience and determination to continue her career demonstrate her
