Jared Leto, the actor set to star in the upcoming film Morbius, is facing a wave of controversy as past accusations of inappropriate interactions with underage girls resurface online.
As early reviews for Morbius pour in, Leto is also receiving criticism from fans.
Over the years, several publications have accused Leto of engaging in predatory behavior towards underage girls.
However, these allegations should be taken with caution, as they originated from unverified sources and have been circulating for more than two decades.
Let's delve into the accusations against Leto and his alleged habit of pursuing underage girls.
While many less-established publications have spread rumors about Leto targeting teenagers and engaging in s**ual assault, former New York Post reporter Chris Wilson shed light on the matter in 2005.
Leto was accused of aggressively pursuing teen models during his tour with his band Thirty Seconds to Mars.
According to The New York Post's source:
“He's been approaching all the girls and inviting them to his shows…He's a serial texter.
He is constantly texting these 16- and 17-year-old girls.
It's really kind of creepy.”
At the time, Leto was staying in New York during his band's tour.
In May 2018, Dylan Sprouse tweeted calling out Jared Leto, alleging that the actor had reached out to every female model aged 18-25.
He even questioned Leto's success rate in these conversations.
The motive behind Sprouse's accusation remains unclear.
James Gunn, the director of Guardians of the Galaxy, replied to Sprouse's tweet, saying:
“He starts at 18 on the internet?”
This tweet implied that Leto may have pursued underage girls in the past.
However, Gunn later deleted the tweet, likely due to his own controversial jokes about pedophilia resurfacing around the same time.
Gunn was subsequently fired from Marvel but went on to direct the sequel to Suicide Squad (2016) for Warner Bros.
Interestingly, Leto played a controversial version of the Joker in the prequel to Gunn's The Suicide Squad (2021).
Recently, as early reviews for Morbius have been largely negative, Leto's past allegations have come back into focus.
Many tweets refer to Gunn's deleted tweet, drawing attention to the accusations against Leto.
Furthermore, Leto's band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, has openly admitted to creating a self-proclaimed “cult” on their private Croatian island.
Moreover, Leto's alleged questionable behavior on the set of Suicide Squad (2016) has fueled rumors of predatory behavior.
It is claimed that Leto sent used condoms to his co-stars and even sent a dead rat to Margot Robbie.
As Leto faces controversy once again, it remains to be seen how these allegations will impact his career and the reception of Morbius.
