Jim Carrey's legal team has made shocking allegations against his late girlfriend, claiming that she had s–ually transmitted diseases before they met and fabricated medical records to frame Carrey for giving her STDs in an extortion attempt.
According to documents obtained by People magazine, Cathriona White, who was a make-up artist, supposedly changed information on a friend's medical records from 2013 to her own name and altered the year to 2011, which predates her relationship with Carrey.
She allegedly submitted these falsified documents to Planned Parenthood to support her claim that Carrey infected her with STDs.
The court papers state that White created fake records with manipulated details, including bogus tests and false dates, as part of her scheme to extort Carrey by threatening him with public humiliation in early 2013.
Tragically, White took her own life at the age of 30 in September 2015.
Following her death, her mother and estranged husband filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Carrey, accusing him of being responsible for White's fatal overdose of prescription drugs.
Carrey's legal team contends that White falsified her medical records due to pre-existing STDs before she met the actor.
They also claim that there are text messages between White and the friend whose records she tampered with.
In response to these accusations, Michael Avenatti, an attorney for White, dismissed the claims as baseless and threatened legal action against Carrey and his advisors for their alleged misconduct in the case.
As reported by DailyMail.com, Carrey is now seeking a protective order in the ongoing wrongful death lawsuit to prevent the public disclosure of certain information.
This move follows the revelation of notes from White's therapist suggesting that Carrey may have misled about transmitting STDs to her.
The actor's motion aims to modify an existing order to allow him and other involved parties to review discovery material before its public release.
Carrey is scheduled to be deposed in the case later this month.
Court documents also suggest that White's use of the forged records was part of her extortion plot against Carrey, emphasizing the contentious nature of the legal battle surrounding her tragic death.
The revelations from White's therapy sessions shed light on her struggles with mental health and the tumultuous dynamics of her relationship with Carrey.
The notes indicate her distress over feeling used and mistreated by the actor, highlighting a troubling narrative that has emerged in the aftermath of her passing.
