In a recent interview with Playboy, musician John Mayer opened up about his past relationships with Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston.
He likened his connection with Jessica to an addictive substance, describing her as a drug that he found hard to resist.
Reflecting on their time together in 2006, he vividly expressed, “That girl, for me, is a drug.
And drugs aren't good for you if you do lots of them.
Yeah, that girl is like crack cocaine to me.
s**ually it was crazy.
That's all I'll say.
It was like napalm, s**ual napalm.”
John delved further into his feelings towards Jessica, revealing that he felt a strong attachment to the singer, acknowledging her influence on his life choices.
He pondered, “There are people in the world who have the power to change our values.
Have you ever been with a girl who made you want to quit the rest of your life?”
He went on to express the intensity of his desire, stating, “Did you ever say, ‘I want to quit my life and just f****** snort you?
If you charged me $10,000 to f*** you, I would start selling all my s*** just to keep f****** you.'”
The discussion then shifted to John's sentiments towards his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Aniston.
Despite their breakup, he confessed that he still harbors feelings for the actress and remains protective of her.
When asked if he still loved her, John replied with a heartfelt, “Yes, always.
I'll always be sorry that it didn't last.”
He admitted to longing for a reconciliation but acknowledged the reality of their current circumstances, stating, “In some ways I wish I could be with her.
But I can't change the fact that I need to be 32.”
Regarding his music and its relation to Jennifer Aniston, John refrained from disclosing specifics but expressed his hope that his songs resonate with a broad audience.
He clarified, “I feel bad because people think ‘Heartbreak Warfare' is about [Jen].
I want to go on record saying it's not.
That woman would never use heartbreak warfare.”
Emphasizing the depth of their connection, he shared, “We just have a regard for each other's feelings that is pretty intense.
It's been a deep relationship, and it's no longer taking place at all.”
John addressed rumors surrounding the reasons for his breakup with Jen, denying claims that excessive Tweeting played a significant role.
He highlighted a technological disparity between them, noting, “One of the most significant differences between us was that I was Tweeting.
There was a rumor that I had been dumped because I was Tweeting too much.
That wasn't it, but that was a big difference.”
He observed a contrast in their approach to technology and success, indicating, “The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter.
I think she's still hoping it goes back to 1998.
She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction.”
Dismissing speculations about his sexuality, John clarified an incident involving Perez Hilton, emphasizing that it was an act of rebellion rather than genuine interest.
He recounted, “The only man I've kissed is Perez Hilton.
It was New Year's Eve and I decided to go out and destroy myself.
I was dating Jessica at the time, and I remember seeing Perez Hilton flitting about this club and acting as though he had just invented homosexuality.”
Reflecting on the moment, he expressed regret, admitting, “I'm a little ashamed.
I think it lasted about half a minute.
I really think it went on too long.”
