American actress Julia Roberts, renowned for her roles in romantic comedies, has captured the hearts of audiences worldwide.
One of her most beloved films is Notting Hill, released in 1999, in which she starred alongside British actor Hugh Grant.
Their on-screen chemistry was well-received by viewers.
While Julia and Hugh may have appeared happy together on camera, their relationship behind the scenes was quite the opposite.
The two did not get along while filming, despite their convincing performances on the big screen.
Hugh Grant recently shed light on the source of their tension during an appearance on Oprah Winfrey's show.
It was revealed that the British actor had made jokes about the size of Julia's mouth during the filming of Notting Hill, causing off-camera drama between them.
During the discussion with Oprah, Hugh amusingly referred to Julia as “very big-mouthed,” both in a literal and figurative sense.
He humorously recalled being aware of a faint echo while kissing her.
Despite his remarks, Oprah, who is close friends with Julia, defended her, describing her as one of the nicest people she has ever met.
Hugh, however, jokingly disagreed.
Despite the apparent tension, Julia had already forgiven Hugh for his comments and expressed interest in working with him again.
She deemed his remarks about her looks as “cruel” but ultimately saw it as an opportunity for fun collaboration on another movie.
Even after more than two decades since its release, fans still hold Anna Scott and William Thacker, played by Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, in high regard as one of their favorite on-screen couples in the romantic comedy genre.
