In a recent interview with British Vogue, renowned actress Julia Roberts playfully disclosed her unique approach to preserving her youthful looks.
The 56-year-old star of “Pretty Woman” humorously claimed that she “pickles” her head for 36 hours per month.
During the cover interview, Richard Curtis, director of the iconic film “Notting Hill,” questioned Roberts about what he referred to as her “seven faces.”
These supposed different personas ranged from her “famous face” to her “feminist face.”
When Curtis inquired about her physical appearance and the secret behind her timeless beauty, Roberts attributed it to her family's genetics.
With a lighthearted tone, she replied, “I don't know about your parents – I'm sure they were lovely people.
But my parents?
Both blessed with good genes.”
Reflecting on her career, Roberts mentioned that she believes she appeared much younger during the height of her movie stardom.
She recalled seeing a photo of herself alongside Tom Hanks from a film and remarked, “We looked like we had been ironed.”
Curtis then posed a question on behalf of Vogue readers, asking whether Roberts used any artificial methods to maintain her youthful glow.
In jest, she responded, “Pickling.
I put my head in a jar every other Saturday for 18 hours.
It works wonders.
Although, the smell is dreadful.”
Quickly switching to a more serious tone, Roberts clarified, “No, but seriously.
Good genes, leading a fulfilling life – I say this mostly as a joke – but I genuinely believe in the power of love from a good man.”
Roberts has been married to cinematographer Daniel Moder since 2002, and together they have three children: Hazel and Phinneas, both 19, and 16-year-old Henry.
Speaking about her relationship with Moder, she expressed, “I truly believe that my husband's love and care for me bring immense happiness.
And when someone is genuinely happy, age becomes irrelevant.”
