Kate Moss Denies Johnny Depp Pushed Her Down Stairs in 1990s

Supermodel Kate Moss testified on Wednesday, debunking the claim that pushed her down a flight of stairs during their relationship in the 1990s.

Moss appeared via video link from Gloucestershire, England, and provided her testimony for approximately five minutes.

Depp is currently suing his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for making domestic violence allegations against him in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.

Depp vehemently denies ever physically harming Heard, while she has presented evidence, such as photos of bruises, to support her claims of routine violence.

In turn, Heard is countersuing Depp over his lawyer's statement that her allegations are a “hoax.”

The defamation trial, which began on April 11, is nearing its conclusion, with closing arguments scheduled for Friday.

Moss was brought in as a witness to address Heard's mention of her during her own testimony earlier this month.

Heard described an incident in March 2015, where Depp allegedly repeatedly punched her on a stairway landing during an argument in their Los Angeles apartment.

Heard stated that Depp had also struck her sister, and she feared he would push her sister down the stairs.

“When that happened, I instantly thought of Kate Moss and the stairs, and I swung at him,” Heard said.

This was not the first time Heard had referenced Moss during a defamation trial involving Depp and herself.

The couple had a previous trial in 2020.

On Wednesday morning, Depp's lawyers presented Moss as their first witness to provide rebuttal evidence.

Moss confirmed that she dated Depp from 1994 to 1998 and clarified that the alleged stairs incident occurred when they were at a resort in Jamaica.

She explained, “There was a rainstorm, and as I was leaving the room, I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back.”

Moss testified that she screamed, and Depp immediately carried her to their room and sought medical attention for her.

She stated, “He never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs.”

Heard's legal team did not cross-examine Moss.

Later in the day, Depp also addressed the incident when he returned to the stand.

He recalled telling Heard about Moss slipping down the stairs due to rain.

“Ms. Heard took the story and twisted it into a very ugly incident in her mind,” Depp said.

“There was never a moment where I pushed Kate down any set of stairs.”

During the previous week, Heard's team played a deposition from Ellen Barkin, who revealed that she had a brief s**ual relationship with Depp in the 1990s.

Barkin claimed that Depp became angry during that time and threw a bottle in her direction at a hotel room in Las Vegas.

“He's just a jealous man,” Barkin stated.
